Three men detained in Valongo for kidnapping and assaults linked to car sale dispute
Three suspects, aged between 29 and 39, were detained in Valongo for kidnapping and violent assaults on a 34-year-old man, stemming from a dispute over the sale of a car.

Three men aged between 29 and 39 were detained in Valongo, in the Porto district, on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and violent assaults. The Judicial Police (PJ) announced the detentions on Wednesday, as reported by CNN Portugal.
According to the Northern Directorate of the PJ, the three suspects are "strongly suspected of committing the crimes of housebreaking, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, qualified assault and aggravated coercion".
The facts date back to 4 September, when the suspects, driven by a dispute related to the sale of a car, forced their way into the victim's home — a 34-year-old man — and violently assaulted him on the head and torso. The attackers also took the victim's bank cards and identity documents, subsequently dragging him out of the house, leaving, according to the PJ, "a trail of evidence consistent with the intensity of the assaults".
The victim was forced to enter the suspects' vehicle, which travelled several kilometres until reaching an isolated area. There they immobilised the vehicle, removed the man and continued the assaults, abandoning him "lying on the ground, partially undressed and barefoot".
Members of the public who found the victim in distress, when he managed to reach the public road to seek help, activated emergency services.
The three detainees will be presented to the judicial authority for interrogation and the application of restraint measures.
