Three doctors detained in fraudulent disability retirement scheme

The GNR detained three doctors suspected of facilitating a fraudulent disability retirement scheme that benefited 182 individuals. The operation took place at several locations across the country.

According to a statement from the security force, the healthcare professionals in question issued false or altered medical assessments, allowing people with no incapacity whatsoever to obtain recognition of disability and, consequently, access to early retirement pensions.

As part of the investigation, the GNR conducted searches and seizures at residences and medical surgeries. The detainees will be brought before the competent judicial authorities.

The fraud involved a total of 182 beneficiaries who, through this scheme, managed to obtain disability retirements without meeting the legal requirements.
