Masked trio linked carjacking attempt in Carregado to robbery at grocer's in Lisbon
A Jeep used in a failed carjacking attempt in Carregado was spotted hours later in Lisbon, where a grocer was robbed at gunpoint. The Judicial Police are investigating.

Jeep links two crimes: failed carjacking and grocer's robbery on same day
A Jeep vehicle is the link between two crimes committed on the same Sunday, according to Correio da Manhã — one in Carregado, municipality of Alenquer, and another in Lisbon. The Judicial Police are investigating both cases and seeking to demonstrate that the perpetrators are the same: three men seen masked in both locations.
The first crime occurred late in the morning. The three masked men approached a couple who were sitting inside a vehicle on a street in Carregado. Bystanders filmed the scene, which shows the gang managing to pull the driver from the vehicle. The resistance of the victim — an 80-year-old elderly man — and the gathering of witnesses forced the robbers to flee without taking the car.
The same Jeep was identified again at around 15:30 on the same day, this time on Calçada da Palma de Baixo, in the São Domingos de Benfica area of Lisbon.
Grocer taken hostage at gunpoint, lost 500 euros, whisky and mobile phone
In the second crime, an Indian immigrant, owner of a grocer's and fruit shop, was taken hostage. Everything points, according to the investigation, to this being the same three perpetrators of the failed carjacking in Carregado hours earlier.
With a pistol pointed at his head, the victim was forced to hand over money from the cash register — around 500 euros — five bottles of whisky and a mobile phone. The robbery was fully recorded by the establishment's security cameras.
The owner, who preferred not to identify himself, reported the incident to Correio da Manhã. He stated that the grocer's had been robbed about a year earlier, on that occasion by a thief armed with a knife.
The Judicial Police are continuing the investigation with the aim of confirming the link between the two crimes and identifying the three suspects.
