Anti-drugs operation results in one detention and several young people identified in Asunción
The Urban Operations Directorate of the National Anti-Drugs Secretariat (Senad) and the Public Prosecutor's Office burst into a residence in Asunción on Monday that was operating under the guise of a "creative space", according to ultimahora.com. At the location they seized 98 grammes of marijuana, 28 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets and 1.2 grammes of ketamine powder.
Agents also found 13 tablets of alleged caffeine, four empty ketamine bottles, two precision scales, cash of various denominations and a mobile telephone.
During the procedure, David Fernando Halles Ayala was detained, who has a record for violation of Law 1.340/88. Several young people were found in the property gathered with the purpose of acquiring and consuming various narcotic substances.
The intervention was led by prosecutor Martín Morínigo, from the Specialised Unit for the Fight against Drug Trafficking and Organised Crime in Asunción.
Senad indicated that it will continue intervening at points that, under various guises, operate as spaces for drug distribution and consumption, with the objective of curbing its circulation and reducing risks to the community.
Halles Ayala's record in similar cases is not recent: on 11 April 2019, Senad intervened at a car park where cocaine, LSD and marijuana deliveries were being carried out, and four young people engaged in distribution were captured, including the same defendant.
