A domestic violence incident occurred during the night of 9 July 2026 in a building in the municipality of Sfântu Gheorghe. Law enforcement was notified at approximately 01:50 that a woman was being abused by her partner, according to We Radio Sfântu Gheorghe.

Upon arrival, the aggressor was no longer at the scene. Police officers immediately launched a search operation and managed to locate and bring him to the station for questioning. Investigators established that, in the context of a spontaneous altercation aggravated by alcohol consumption, the man had physically assaulted his partner. The victim showed visible signs of blows to the face, but refused medical assistance.

The investigating prosecutor at the Court Prosecutor's Office ordered the suspect to be detained for 24 hours. He had previous convictions for acts of violence and had been recently released from prison after serving a custodial sentence.

On 10 July 2026, the judge overseeing rights and liberties reviewed the proposal from the criminal investigation authorities and decided to remand the man in custody for 30 days. The case remains under investigation, under the coordination of the prosecution, for the offence of domestic violence.
