SRI Employee and IGSU Serviceman Arrested in Drug Trafficking Network in Bucharest

State Employees Caught Selling Ecstasy in Clubs and at Festivals
According to cotidianul.ro, an employee of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and a serviceman of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) have been identified as members of a drug trafficking network in Bucharest. The group sold 8 types of prohibited substances, ranging from veterinary anaesthetic to cocaine.
TVR Info specifies that the two had strict rules within the network: they exclusively sold ecstasy at pre-arranged locations. Drugs were distributed in clubs, in the lavatories of venues and at tables, and during festivals the traffickers operated in clearly defined sectors.
Investigators monitored both suspects, and undercover police officers purchased drugs from them. Following house searches carried out at the SRI employee's residence, ecstasy pills were discovered.
"An employee from the area of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and one from the area of intelligence services commit such acts together in a criminal clique. We are talking about two servicemen who, perhaps lured by money, are participating in such a group. In the end, it is good that the Police and prosecutors did their duty," said Mihai Zlat, vice-president of the National Union of Police and Contract Personnel (SNPPC).
In total, 22 people have been detained and subsequently placed in preventive arrest as part of this broad operation carried out by investigators in the Capital. A judicial monitoring measure has been imposed on the IGSU serviceman.

Separately, prosecutors from DIICOT in Constanța have detained a 48-year-old man after he brought into the country, through Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport, over 100 grammes of cannabis resin brought from the United States of America.
"The suspect was detected by border police after he unlawfully introduced, onto the territory of the country, from the United States of America, a quantity of over 100 grammes of cannabis resin, a risk drug," states the statement from DIICOT's Press Bureau.
