A swimming coach at Câmpina Sports Club in Prahova County has been arrested on remand for 30 days after being accused of sexual assault committed against a 12-year-old child, according to agerpres.ro.
The judge for rights and freedoms at Câmpina Court has approved the proposal from the prosecutor's office at Câmpina Court and has ordered the preventive arrest of the defendant, identified by the initials S. A. D. The decision is not final.
The investigation was launched on 15 May 2026 as a result of a formal complaint made by a woman from the town of Câmpina. She reported that her daughter, a 12-year-old child, had been sexually assaulted by a 42-year-old man during sports training activities, according to the Prahova County Police Directorate.
Sources close to the investigation told AGERPRES that the man in question is a swimming coach at Câmpina Sports Club and is also the club's chairman. According to the same sources, he allegedly sexually assaulted the child multiple times over the course of a year.
On Thursday, police executed a house search warrant in Scorțeni commune at the address of the person suspected of committing the offences, according to the Prahova County Police Directorate.
