A 38-year-old individual from Bacău was arrested by organised crime prosecutors after collecting a package containing psychoactive substances sent from the United Kingdom. Investigators claim the man imported over one kilogram of 4-MMC, a substance classified as a high-risk drug, into the country.
According to the DIICOT investigation, the suspect allegedly persuaded a 23-year-old woman to send the parcel via international courier. The drugs were hidden in tiny polypropylene tubes with caps, as well as in condoms.
At the man's home, law enforcement discovered other suspicious substances, along with implements used for crushing and consumption. Three of his vehicles were placed under seizure.
The searches took place on 9 July 2026, and a day later prosecutors requested the court order the defendant's remand in custody for one month. The operation involved forces from the police, criminal investigation specialists, border police officers from Nădlac and gendarmes from the Bacău Mobile Group.
