Border police at Albița detained a 53-year-old driver from the Republic of Moldova who was attempting to leave Romania with drugs hidden in his car.
The incident occurred on 13 July 2026 at the Albița crossing point, on the exit lane from the country. Law enforcement officers from Huși Border Police Sector inspected the man's vehicle and discovered two bags of mushrooms. Analysis showed that these contained muscimol, a substance classified as a controlled drug.
According to information published by Romanian Border Police, the investigation is being conducted by DIICOT prosecutors – Vaslui Territorial Office. Investigations indicate that the suspect entered Romanian territory in July 2026, bringing prohibited substances, which he subsequently attempted to transport across the border.
The individual is accused of the illegal importation and exportation from the country of controlled drugs, an offence committed repeatedly. The prosecution requested preventive arrest for a period of one month.
