According to viata-libera.ro, a 28-year-old man from Toflea has been remanded in custody for 30 days after allegedly beating and unlawfully confining his girlfriend, a young woman of 19 years old.
The incident reportedly occurred on 8 September, with the man being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the alleged acts. The young woman was allegedly assaulted in her own home, after which the man allegedly prevented her from leaving.
The woman managed to call for help, and police officers intervened at the scene. They determined that the situation could have become more serious and, given that the two are in a cohabiting relationship, they conducted a risk assessment. The assessment concluded that the young woman was in danger, which is why a provisional protection order was issued.
The man was initially detained for 24 hours. On Wednesday, 9 September, Tecuci Court ordered his remand in custody for 30 days. He is being investigated for unlawful confinement and domestic violence.
The investigation continues under the supervision of the prosecutor in the case, to establish the exact circumstances and the legal measures that are necessary.
