A 52-year-old man from Prundu commune, Giurgiu county, has been placed in preventive custody on the charge of attempted murder. The man is suspected of brutally assaulting another resident of the same settlement, a 53-year-old man, on Saturday evening.
The incident allegedly stemmed from a longstanding dispute between the two men. According to information provided by Radio România, citing the Giurgiu County Police Inspectorate, law enforcement officers were called after the victim was found unconscious, lying on the ground in the courtyard of a house.
The response team, comprising officers from the Criminal Investigation Service and Rural Police Section No. 7 Băneasa, established that the assault occurred in the context of an old conflict between the two villagers. The blows inflicted were extremely severe, endangering the life of the victim.
The injured man was taken urgently to a hospital in Bucharest for treatment.
Prosecutors and judges considered the acts to be particularly grave, and accordingly issued a warrant for preventive arrest for 30 days in the name of the suspected perpetrator. The investigation continues in order to clarify all the circumstances in which the incident occurred.
