Law enforcement in the capital apprehended an individual shortly after he allegedly committed a sexual assault on a woman. The incident took place in a car park in Bucharest, and the authorities ordered the preventive arrest measure for the suspect, according to TVRInfo.ro.
According to investigators, the man allegedly approached the victim on a street, using a knife to intimidate her. Under duress, the woman was taken to a parking area where she allegedly suffered sexual assaults.
The victim found a way to escape by proposing to the attacker that they go together to her home. Upon entering the building, she blocked the attacker's path and called the emergency number. Police officers traced the suspect nearby, pursued him and immobilised him.
Magistrates were to rule on the preventive measure the same day. Investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
