Woman's body found in suitcase on Olt: suspect on the run, accomplice arrested in Sibiu

Man wanted nationwide after girlfriend's body found in suitcase on Olt
A 30-year-old man from Vâlcea county, Băltățeanu Gheorghe Vlăduț, is being sought by police after allegedly killing his partner, placing her body in a suitcase and throwing it into the lake in the village of Zăvideni, according to G4Media. The alleged crime took place on 21 September, and the body was discovered the following day by a fisherman on the bank of the Olt river, in the area of Ionești Dam.
The man who was fishing observed a piece of luggage floating on the water's surface. After pulling it to shore, he found a human body inside and immediately alerted the authorities. An operational team from Vâlcea County Police Directorate (IPJ) was dispatched to the scene.
Victim: a 28-year-old woman from Dolj
The investigation established that the victim is Valentina Ionela Tănasie, a 28-year-old woman with residence in Filiași, Dolj county. She had been living without legal arrangement at the residence of her partner in Tomșani village, Vâlcea county. The autopsy revealed multiple traumatic injuries: the victim had been struck on the head twice and had five broken ribs. The medical examiners determined that death was violent and occurred on 21 September.
Petre Tănasie, the girl's father, stated that he learned of his daughter's disappearance from people around them. "I went to his mother's house and I told her that he killed my child, he killed my daughter if she has disappeared. My wife told me he had beaten her", the father said. He added: "I spoke to the girl and she told me that he beat her because he saw that I had sent someone a request on Instagram. She was a good girl."
Suspect fled the country before the crime was discovered
Adrian Vrăbete, prosecutor at the Vâlcea Court Prosecution Office, confirmed that investigations are ongoing against a 30-year-old man from Vâlcea county, "regarding whom there is information that he left the country's territory before the crime was discovered". The man was not found at his residence when investigators arrived.
Vâlcea Court issued an arrest warrant in absentia on Wednesday under the name of Bălțățeanu, who is being investigated for the crime of murder, as provided by Article 188, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. Subsequently, the suspect was placed on a nationwide wanted list. On the Romanian Police website, the following notice appears: "The person is being investigated for the crime of murder and is being sought for the execution of the preventive arrest warrant."
Representatives of Vâlcea County Police Directorate clarified that, to date, no previous reports of conflictual situations between the two partners have been identified. Nevertheless, investigators discovered that, four years earlier, a protection order had been issued against the same man regarding another partner.
Accomplice detained in Sibiu county
On Tuesday evening, police arrested a man in Sibiu county suspected of transporting the suspect after the alleged crime was committed. Criminal prosecution activities were coordinated by prosecutors from the Vâlcea Court Prosecution Office, together with officers from Vâlcea County Police Directorate and Sibiu County Police Directorate.
The victim's father provided details about the context in which the suspect was allegedly in the period immediately following the alleged crime. "He stayed at my house for a few days. We had a barbecue. He seemed like a good boy to me. I would talk with both of them for two to three hours every evening. They said they wanted to open a salon. I think he had problems with drugs and alcohol", Petre Tănasie stated. He added that a neighbour confirmed to him that the suspect had left across the border.
The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities continue their search to apprehend Băltățeanu Gheorghe Vlăduț.
