A man from Târgu Jiu has been placed under preventive arrest after prosecutors from DIICOT accused him of loan sharking and pimping. The individual loaned money at enormous interest rates, and when borrowers could no longer pay, he forced them to bring women whom he sexually exploited.
According to investigators, the businessman gave out a loan of €9,000, and collected €1,000 in interest monthly. When the victim could no longer meet the payments, the aggressor began threatening and beating him. At the same time, he demanded that he provide women for prostitution, using coercion.
The man was detained for 24 hours, and subsequently the court ordered his preventive arrest for 30 days. The investigation continues, and DIICOT prosecutors are investigating the suspect's entire criminal activity.
