A 38-year-old man from Bacău has been placed in preventive arrest after prosecutors from DIICOT apprehended him immediately following the retrieval of a parcel containing drugs dispatched from the United Kingdom.

A 38-year-old man, resident in Bacău, was detained by DIICOT prosecutors immediately after he retrieved a package containing forbidden substances. The drugs had been sent from Great Britain, and the suspect allegedly purchased them from British territory itself, subsequently arranging with another person the method of dispatch to Romania.
Law enforcement officials conducted three home searches in Bacău municipality. During the raid, investigators also found other drugs, tablets of various categories, as well as items that showed traces of narcotics. Three motor vehicles belonging to the man were placed under seizure.
The judge for rights and freedoms ordered the preventive arrest of the accused for a period of 30 days. The investigation continues with respect to the offence of international trafficking in high-risk drugs.
