Prosecutors in Alba have uncovered a network which, since 2023, has helped dozens of pupils cheat on baccalaureate examinations using hidden earpieces and digital transmissions. Five suspects are now under authority supervision for 60 days.

Five individuals suspected of fraud in baccalaureate examinations have been placed under authority supervision for a period of 60 days, the Prosecutor's Office attached to Alba County Court announced on Monday.
According to investigators, a criminal group active since 2023 has been dismantled, whose members helped dozens of candidates cheat on maturity examination tests in exchange for sums of money. The operations took place between 2023 and 2026.
The method of operation was sophisticated: on examination day, pupils filmed the test questions and transmitted them digitally to designated persons. These individuals would solve the tests and send the answers back to network members, who would then dictate them to candidates through miniature hidden earpieces.
The sums collected from pupils were divided among participants, proportionally to each person's role in the fraudulent scheme.
On Friday, the five men — four from Alba County and one from Sibiu County — were detained for 24 hours, being accused of disclosure of classified or unpublished information. The operation included 47 home searches carried out in several counties: 31 in Alba, 10 in Cluj, three in Bihor, two in Arad and one in Sibiu.
On Saturday, prosecutors ordered the suspects to be placed under authority supervision. They are not permitted to communicate with each other or with other members of the group. Breach of this prohibition may result in house arrest or even preventive detention.
