Clotilde Armand, sentenced to prison, comments on evidence in Georgescu case
Former Sector 1 mayor, sentenced to one year suspended, mocks the credentials found on Georgescu, about whom she says he is presented as "senator of Malta".

Gândul reports that Clotilde Armand, former Sector 1 mayor recently sentenced to one year suspended imprisonment, has publicly commented on the case in which Călin Georgescu, the former presidential candidate, is being investigated.
Armand specifically referred to credentials discovered by prosecutors following a search at Georgescu's residence — a document which she describes as a "diplomatic passport" in which Georgescu would appear with the status of "senator".
"I don't want to comment on the judicial investigation against Călin Georgescu, he still benefits from the presumption of innocence. But what seems funniest to me is something else. The gentleman senator of Malta – as was written on the false credentials found by prosecutors at Georgescu's home – forgot, however, that Malta does not have a Senate. The Maltese Parliament is unicameral, organised according to the Westminster model. The only legislative chamber is the House of Representatives (Kamra tad-Deputati). Constitutionally, Parliament is formed of the President of Malta + House of Representatives, without an upper chamber", Armand wrote in a Facebook post.
Unlike Georgescu, against whom there is currently no final conviction, Armand has already received a sentence. At the end of August, the Court of Sector 1 Bucharest sentenced her to one year suspended imprisonment in the case concerning the increase of her own allowance. The decision is not yet final.
The court imposed on the former mayor a period of supervision of two years and ordered the confiscation of the sum of 18,720 lei, obtained in the context of a project for which she was charged.
Prosecutors established that Armand increased her allowance after she appointed herself manager of a project financed from European funds.
