Criminal group in Arad used a 10-year-old child for drug trafficking

A 10-year-old minor allegedly became involved in cannabis sales by a criminal group in Arad County, according to Digi24. Ten suspects — nine men and one woman — were detained for trafficking in risk drugs and trafficking in high-risk drugs.

Arad County Police Inspectorate reported on Wednesday that members of the group allegedly procured, possessed, handled, intermediated and sold cannabis and crystalline substances — including 3CMC, 4CMC and alpha-Ethylaminopentiopheneone — over the course of this year. The price per transaction varied between 100 and 1,400 lei.

"The investigation showed that two individuals, a man and a woman, members of the same family, allegedly sold cannabis including through a 10-year-old minor," the IPJ Arad statement read.

Following 14 house searches carried out on Tuesday, investigators seized quantities of plant and crystalline substances — cannabis and alpha-Ethylaminopentiopheneone — as well as grinders, precision scales and sums of money.

Prosecutors from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) Arad ordered the detention of the ten suspects. Arad Court subsequently approved the preventive arrest of seven of them, whilst one woman was placed under house arrest.

The file concerns offences of trafficking in risk drugs, trafficking in high-risk drugs and carrying out operations with substances likely to produce psychoactive effects, without authorisation.
