Litrașu back in detention following alleged witness intimidation

Constantin Raiciu, known as Costel Litrașu and regarded by authorities as one of the most violent criminals in Ilfov County, has been detained for 24 hours after allegedly threatening a witness cited in the "Chiajna massacre" case. According to judicial sources cited exclusively by Gândul, the incident took place on 14 October, and police also issued a provisional five-day protection order in favour of the witness.

The witness in question, Cristian Partimari, presented himself the same day at Chitila Town Police headquarters and filed a complaint alleging that Litrașu and his cousin, Sorin Raiciu, had threatened him with the intention of forcing him to change his statements in the case.

The beating from July 2020, at the root of the conflict

The case in which Partimari appears as a witness is based on a bloody incident on 23 July 2020. At around 19:00, Costel Litrașu and his cousin Sorin Raiciu ambushed their rival Liviu Iordan. Iordan was in a car with Călin Pană, the brother of bodybuilding champion Alina Pană. Both were admitted to hospital in serious condition.

Litrașu and three other men involved in the incident were charged with attempted murder, breach of public order and peace, and destruction. Liviu Iordan is described by the press as also being a godson of the mayor of Chiajna municipality, Mircea Minea.

A long case, with repeated returns to detention

Litrașu was remanded in custody after having been placed under investigation for a period, but was later released. Since then, he has been returned to detention on several occasions for charges of extortion and other assaults.

The most recent incident prior to this case occurred at a swimming pool in Chiajna, where Litrașu allegedly fractured a man's jaw following a brief exchange of words. The act resulted in a new detention order for him.

Detained at night, released without a proposal for remand

The two cousins, Costel and Sorin Raiciu, were picked up by investigators and brought to Chitila Police headquarters for questioning. At around 03:30, both were detained for 24 hours. At the same time, a provisional five-day protection order was issued for Cristian Partimari.

The prosecutor handling the case at the Office of the Prosecutor attached to Buftea District Court decided, however, that it was not necessary to present the Raiciu brothers before the court with a proposal for remand in custody.
