Magistrates have ordered the deprivation of liberty for one month for a 24-year-old youth under investigation for murder. He is accused of fatally stabbing the mother of his ex-partner in a residence in the commune of Luna, Cluj county. The victim attempted to save her daughter from the aggressor's fury, according to accounts from Digi24.
The act occurred on Wednesday, at around 6:00 in the morning. Law enforcement has established that the violent scene began after the accused quarrelled with the new boyfriend of his ex-partner, an 18-year-old adolescent. The suspect allegedly physically assaulted the young man, after which he travelled to his ex-partner's house.
At her residence, the man attacked his ex-partner, her mother and her sister. The 36-year-old woman died from the wounds inflicted, whilst her daughter and sister were transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Upon leaving the courtroom, the accused justified his actions through jealousy, claiming that his ex-partner had rebuilt her romantic life. The court-appointed lawyer stated that he had admitted to the facts before the court.
The situation is all the more serious given that a protection order had been issued against the aggressor's name by the Luduș Court as early as 14 May, a fortnight before the crime. Additionally, the individual was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle.
As a result of the incident, the Romanian Police has ordered the Control Body to verify whether procedures were followed and whether previous measures were applied and monitored as provided for by law.
