Former priest and folk music performer Cristian Pomohaci has been officially sent before the court by prosecutors from DIICOT – Târgu Mureș Territorial Service, being accused of marketing of highly dangerous psychoactive substances, according to Radio România Cluj.

Defence lawyers challenged both the measure depriving him of liberty and the decision of the preliminary chamber judge from 26 June, through which the sending to trial was validated. On Thursday, 2 July, the panel at the Court of Appeal Târgu Mureș considered that the arguments presented by the defence were not substantiated and upheld the previous decision. The artist will remain in custody throughout the duration of the trial.

Pomohaci has been in detention since 2 June 2026, when extensive raids took place at his home. Two separate criminal investigations were opened at that time: one for sexual assault and another for distribution of narcotics.

Currently, the accused is being tried under preventive arrest for offences related to prohibited substances.
