Prosecutors from DIICOT have dismantled a large-scale cannabis plantation in Neamț County, where they found thousands of plants and a space fitted out for drug processing.

A large-scale operation by law enforcement led to the discovery of a cannabis plantation in Dragomirești commune, Neamț County. Investigators confiscated over 2,600 plants cultivated in an extensive greenhouse, as well as a fully equipped workshop for transforming and packaging the substance.
The detention of the two alleged members of the criminal group took place on 2 July 2026. The principal suspect is believed to have established the cultivation in the yard of his own house, intending to sell the finished product. His accomplice allegedly assisted him in maintenance activities.
The agricultural structure had impressive dimensions: approximately 170 metres by 10 metres. Inside were growing 2,669 plants, weighing approximately 2.4 tonnes in fresh condition. The plants were at different stages of development, some already at maturity. The cultivation was organised methodically, in rows, with each plant receiving its own irrigation. An electronic device regulated temperature and humidity, whilst a reservoir with a capacity of ten thousand litres ensured water supply.
In an annexe, investigators found a space converted into a laboratory, equipped with specialised equipment: a ventilator, hydraulic presses, work benches, secateurs for cleaning buds, vacuum apparatus, ultraviolet lamps and sieves for hashish production. A further 88 kilograms of dried plant material, 400 grammes of buds, 50 grammes of resin and 50 grammes of frozen product were seized, along with precision scales.
DIICOT requested that the court order preventive detention of the two for one month. Officers from Organised Crime Neamț, Rural Police units, Piatra Neamț Police, SAS fighters and gendarmes participated in the raids.
