DIICOT conducted nearly 30 searches in Bihor, targeting a group established in 2020, comprising four relatives, which allegedly profited from disadvantaged persons through a charitable organisation, causing damage estimated at over 13 million lei.

Prosecutors from the central unit combating organised crime conducted approximately thirty inspection operations in Bihor County, both in private residences and at the offices of commercial companies and state entities. The operation is part of a criminal case concerning human trafficking.
Law enforcement suspects a fifty-five-year-old man of establishing, together with three blood relatives, a criminal organisation focused on exploiting individuals in difficult circumstances, from as early as 2020.
According to evidence gathered, the offenders allegedly concealed their illegal activity behind a charitable association. In this way, they managed to deceive sponsors, relatives of victims and other taxpayers, obtaining substantial funds in the form of donations, sponsorships, and through the collection of pensions, disability allowances and other forms of social assistance intended for those in need.
Victims were housed in various buildings in the area, with the promise that they would receive medical care, therapy and appropriate social support. However, the conditions provided fell far short of the minimum standards necessary to maintain their state of health.
The material damage caused through this scheme was calculated at a value exceeding 13 million lei.
