DIICOT requests preventive arrest of Pașca family involved in illegal care home network in Bihor
Prosecutors from DIICOT have contested the decision of Bucharest Tribunal to place the Pașca family and the administrator of the illegal centres in Bihor under judicial supervision, requesting the measure be replaced with 30 days of preventive arrest.

Prosecutors from the central structure for combating organised crime have appealed to a higher court the decision by which the Bucharest Tribunal decided on judicial supervision of Viorel Pașca, members of his family group, and Delia Păcală. The latter are being investigated for the exploitation of persons through care centres operating without authorisation in Bihor County. The prosecutor's office wishes for magistrates to order preventive detention of all defendants for a period of 30 days.
The formal charge concerns human trafficking in continuous form. Investigators claim that the network took advantage of the vulnerable situation of some beneficiaries, using them for profit through unauthorised facilities. Before the panel of judges at first instance, the leader of the group stated that his intentions were altruistic and that he had contributed positively to the community, although he admitted the possibility of some involuntary mistakes.
The prosecutors' appeal will be analysed by the Bucharest Court of Appeal. This represents DIICOT's second attempt to obtain the deprivation of liberty of the suspects, after the first request was rejected by the judges of Bucharest Tribunal.
