Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors have detained Gregor Hudohmet, director of GEN-I Sonce, on suspicion of demanding over €450,000 in bribes in an energy storage project.

Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors detained on Friday evening Slovenian energy expert Gregor Hudohmet, director of GEN-I Sonce, together with an alleged Romanian accomplice. The information was transmitted by RTV Slovenija, which obtained it from Pro TV Romania.
According to the source mentioned, the authorities suspect Hudohmet of having demanded at least €450,000 in bribes in a transaction linked to the construction of an electrical energy storage system. An employee of a Romanian company involved in the project is suspected of having helped the Slovenian director commit the offence and of having insisted with his superiors on paying the sum.
It is estimated that the money was intended to be concealed through a contract signed a few weeks earlier, which on the surface appeared to be an ordinary commercial agreement. Subsequently, the two suspects were presented to the judge for rights and freedoms at the Bucharest court, who decided on their preventive arrest for 30 days, according to the prosecutors' request.
