A senior official from the Consumer Protection Authority has come under the scrutiny of anti-corruption investigators. Bogdan-Eduard Dragomirescu, who headed the institution's inspection division, is accused of requesting and accepting a bribe to intervene in favour of a venue in the Mamaia resort.
The investigators from the DNA have decided to initiate criminal prosecution and apply the preventive measure of judicial control for 60 days, according to information published by Agerpres.
According to the indictment, in the summer of last year, in the month of July, the suspect allegedly received 15,000 lei from the administrator of a nightclub in the coastal resort. The money was allegedly given with the promise that the official would exercise his authority over his subordinates so that they would not issue fines and would not suspend the venue's activities.
On 18 July 2025, control teams from the institution arrived at the club during an inspection operation on the coast. Although the inspectors identified irregularities, they did not take legal measures but turned a blind eye, according to the DNA's claim. It appears that the decision not to impose sanctions came as a result of pressure exercised by their superior.
The prosecutors claim that this behaviour seriously affected public interests, endangering the health and safety of clients, as well as their economic rights. The official is facing charges for two offences: trading in influence and inducing subordinates to violate their service duties in order to obtain undue advantage.
