According to Gândul, a criminal case worth over one million euros has reached first instance at Bucharest Court. Two Romanians are accused of selling clothing and luxury accessories on Vestiaire Collective, a platform specialising in second-hand branded goods, including items originating from thefts committed in Italy.
The story begins with three burglaries at Gucci warehouses in Italy. According to the ruling consulted by the cited source, the fashion house reported the disappearance of batches of scarves, children's blankets, slippers and footwear. The market value of goods taken from the three locations was estimated at approximately 1.359 million euros.
Gucci's security department launched systematic monitoring of online sales platforms and identified three accounts on Vestiaire Collective from which products were offered with characteristics identical to those that had disappeared. The brand used the "mystery shopper" method to document transactions and gather evidence.
The case, initially cited by Cancan.ro, illustrates how networks for monetising stolen goods from abroad operate through high-profile digital platforms, making the rapid detection of illicit merchandise more difficult.
