Two arrests for drug trafficking in Alba Iulia and Timiș, DIICOT case
A 36-year-old sold cannabis and 4-CMC in Alba Iulia; another aged 25 stored 300 g of cannabis in a car in Timiș county.
Cannabis and high-risk drugs seized in two separate criminal cases
Two people, aged 25 and 36 respectively, have been remanded in custody for drug trafficking following investigations carried out by officers from the Organised Crime Fighting Brigade (BCCO) Alba Iulia and prosecutors from DIICOT – Alba Iulia Territorial Service, according to alba24.ro.
The two cases are distinct and concern criminal activity carried out in Alba and Timiș counties during the course of 2026.
Case 1: cannabis and 4-CMC sold in Alba Iulia
The 36-year-old is being investigated for trafficking in risk drugs and trafficking in high-risk drugs. According to the Alba County Police Inspectorate, between May and September 2026, he allegedly obtained, possessed and marketed varying quantities of cannabis in Alba Iulia municipality, at prices ranging from 40 to 80 lei per gram, depending on the quantity traded.
Investigators claim that the same individual also sold 4-CMC, classified as a high-risk drug, for sums between 1,000 and 2,500 lei.
During the investigation, officers and prosecutors seized over 40 doses of narcotic substances. Following a residential search, 48 envelopes containing plant and powdered substances were removed, several dozen tablets, an electronic scale and other objects bearing traces of substance. All biological evidence is undergoing expert analysis.
The same person is also accused of an act not directly related to drug trafficking: on 6 June 2026, he allegedly drove a motor vehicle on a public road in Hunedoara county without holding a driving licence and was involved in a road accident.
Case 2: 300 grams of cannabis hidden in a car in Timiș
The second case concerns the 25-year-old suspect. From evidence obtained by investigators it emerged that, during the course of 2026, he allegedly obtained, possessed and marketed cannabis in Timiș county. To avoid discovery of the drugs on his person or in his home, he allegedly stored them in a motor vehicle parked on land in Moșnița locality, Timiș county.
During a residential search, investigators found the key to that motor vehicle. Upon searching the car, approximately 300 grams of cannabis were discovered, which prosecutors claim were intended for sale.
Detention and remand in custody
DIICOT prosecutors – Alba Iulia Territorial Service ordered the detention of the two people on 23 and 24 September 2026. Subsequently, both suspects were brought before judges for rights and freedoms within Alba Court, who ordered remand in custody for 30 days, on 24 and 25 September respectively.
The investigation is being continued by officers from BCCO Alba Iulia and prosecutors from DIICOT – Alba Iulia Territorial Service, with a view to establishing the full scope of criminal activity.
The persons under investigation benefit from all rights and procedural guarantees provided by law, including the presumption of innocence.
