The European Prosecutor's Office in Romania is managing 535 active cases targeting fraud involving European funds, with damages calculated at more than €6.05 billion. Prosecutors have referred 20 indictments to court against 83 individuals.

The European Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is conducting 535 active investigations in Romania, primarily focused on fraud involving community funds in the fields of regional development and agriculture. The total value of estimated damages in these cases exceeds €6.05 billion, according to the institution's 2025 Report, cited by G4Media.ro.
European prosecutors have completed 20 indictments targeting 83 defendants. Alongside these, 36 simplified procedures have been conducted concerning 38 individuals. To date, 76 cases have reached judges, and courts have handed down 18 final sentences — all convictions. In total, 20 individuals have been penalised criminally, with no acquittals recorded.
The institution is headed by Laura Codruța Kövesi and has competence in prosecuting offences against the financial interests of the European Union.
