An investigation of significant scope targets a company in Timiș County operating in the funeral services sector. On Tuesday, 9 June 2026, law enforcement officers conducted raids at six addresses as part of a coordinated operation by Timiș prosecutors. The operation is part of the national "Jupiter" programme, aimed at combating economic crime, according to information published by România Liberă.

Two individuals were brought to the police station for questioning. Four individuals – three women and one man – hold management positions at the company under investigation. They are suspected of failing to record in the accounting records all sums collected from commercial activity conducted between 2020 and October 2025.

The unrecorded sums are believed to exceed one million lei. The state is said to have suffered losses of over 467,000 lei, money which will be calculated precisely as the investigation progresses.

During the searches, investigators confiscated documents and records useful to the investigation. These will be studied to establish how the money circulated and the full scale of the fraud. Following questioning and evidence analysis, prosecutors will decide what legal measures are necessary.
