A 32-year-old man from Vrancea County has been placed under preventive arrest for 30 days after killing his 27-year-old wife with a knife during the night from Saturday to Sunday, according to ProTV News.
Police were alerted via the 112 emergency line at 1:37 a.m. after a conflict erupted between the two spouses. Sources from the investigation indicate that the man accused the woman of infidelity, and the argument was sparked by jealousy.
The discussion escalated rapidly, and the man attacked his wife with a knife. When the medical teams arrived, the victim was in an extremely serious condition. Doctors were unable to intervene, with death confirmed at the scene.
The suspect was initially detained for 24 hours. Subsequently, the judge ordered his preventive arrest for 30 days. The man is being investigated for domestic violence in the form of murder.
The couple's seven-year-old child was taken into care by Child Protection Services inspectors immediately after the incident.
Investigators are now attempting to reconstruct in detail the events of that night to establish exactly what happened in the home of the two before the emergency call. The investigation is being coordinated by prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office attached to Vrancea Tribunal.
