Construction firm, 8.7 million lei loss through false invoices on e-Invoice platform
Tax inspectors discovered that a construction company had reported false expenses of 27 million lei, making use of four fictitious entities. These were controlled through intermediaries, individuals who were unaware that their names appeared in the relevant documents.
To give an appearance of legality, some of these firms submitted incomplete tax declarations from time to time. The real purpose, however, was different: to hide the true size of the workforce actually engaged on construction sites.
Using this method, the company avoided paying contributions and taxes related to wages, depriving the state of nearly 8.7 million lei. Now, the General Anti-Fraud Directorate within ANAF is preparing to file a criminal complaint.
Authorities draw attention to the risks of abusive use of the e-Invoice platform and promise to continue checks against simulated financial circuits.
