Police officers fired warning shots in Sector 1 of the capital after two young men suspected of drug trafficking fled when approached by officers, according to Digi24.
The two suspects, aged 23 and 24 respectively, were already under the scrutiny of investigators. When police officers stopped them and identified themselves, the men fled in opposite directions, forcing teams to disperse in pursuit of them.
Footage captured at the scene shows that the two did not respond to verbal warnings. Following legal procedures in force, police officers fired warning shots. Only then did the suspects stop.
Both men were handcuffed on the spot. Following a body search, police officers found a bag containing banned substances on them — most likely cannabis, according to information from Digi24.
The two were taken for questioning. At present, they are being investigated whilst at liberty.
