Three arrested following falsification of electoral documents at Polling Station 95 in Giurgiu County
Three individuals investigated for falsification of data from Polling Station No. 95-GR Neajlovu, Giurgiu County, have been placed in preventive arrest for 30 days, according to News.ro. A fourth defendant received house arrest, whilst six others have been placed under judicial control.
The Prosecutor's Office attached to Giurgiu Tribunal announced on Wednesday that a total of 10 defendants are being investigated in criminal case No. 1753/173/P/2025 on suspicion of falsifying electoral documents and records.
The alleged offences are said to have occurred on 4 May 2025, on the occasion of the first round of presidential elections. According to prosecutors, members of the electoral bureau of the polling station acted in concert to distort multiple official data.
"From the evidence administered to date, reasonable suspicion has emerged that, on the date of 04.05.2025, on the occasion of the first round of elections for the President of Romania, the defendants, in their capacities within the Electoral Bureau of Polling Station No. 95-GR Neajlovu, would have participated, in concert, in the falsification of electoral documents and records," prosecutors stated.
Specifically, the individuals being investigated are suspected of falsely attesting the presence at voting of certain electors, of forging 83 signatures entered in the permanent and supplementary electoral lists, as well as in the extract used for the special ballot box. Additionally, they are suspected of entering fictitious identification data into the Information System for Monitoring Voting Attendance and Preventing Illegal Voting (SIMPV) and of recording false information in the minutes concerning the final results at the level of the polling station.
The judge for rights and freedoms, called upon by the Prosecutor's Office attached to Giurgiu Tribunal, ordered on Wednesday the preventive arrest of three of the defendants and house arrest for a fourth. With regard to the six remaining defendants, the prosecution ordered the judicial control measure.
