Anti-fraud inspectors have uncovered a tax evasion scheme in which an MMA streaming company concealed revenues from over 30,000 subscribers, defrauding the budget by 26.36 million lei. ANAF will refer the case to criminal authorities.

A company that broadcast mixed martial arts tournaments online concealed revenues obtained from monthly subscriptions, leaving the state without 26.36 million lei. Inspectors from the General Directorate for Anti-Tax Fraud have completed their investigations and are preparing to refer the case to prosecutors.
The company sold access IDs and subscriptions for viewing fights on specialised platforms. Monthly, it collected money from an average of over 30,000 paying customers, but the sums never passed through official accounts. The investigation also uncovered a second illicit tier: the company carried out related activities, such as events and gambling, through another two entities controlled by the same associates. The public attracted by fighting competitions was directed towards betting sites and online casinos, and the profits obtained in this manner were equally well concealed from the Tax Authority.
ANAF representatives clarified that they will continue to monitor revenues from the digital distribution of multimedia content, with the aim of ensuring a level playing field for all taxpayers and punishing the unfair competition generated by those who breach the legislation.
