Acting President Ilie Bolojan has been summoned to DNA Iași to be heard as a witness in the case of businessman Fănel Bogos, accused of buying influence. AUR accuses political pressure related to snap elections.

Bolojan summoned as witness in case of businessman from Vaslui
Ilie Bolojan is to be heard on Friday at DNA Iași as a witness in the case of Fănel Bogos, according to Cotidianul.ro, which cites Antena 3 CNN. Prosecutors want to find out what was discussed at the meeting between Bolojan and the businessman.
Fănel Bogos, who operates a poultry farming company in Vaslui County, is accused of buying influence. He allegedly paid approximately 1.5 million euros to intermediaries to gain access to Bolojan's office and attempt to resolve his problems. Bogos has denied the accusations, but confirmed that he had a meeting with Bolojan and presented his situation to him.
The businessman was detained in November 2025 by DNA prosecutors – Iași Territorial Service, and was subsequently arrested. In the same case, three other individuals were detained for influence trafficking, bribery and extortion, whilst two others were placed under judicial supervision for influence trafficking, extortion and complicity in influence trafficking.
Among those under investigation is Mihai Barbu, former chairman of PNL Vaslui, accused of having arranged meetings between Bogos and representatives of the central administration. Barbu is currently under judicial supervision.
AUR invokes political pressure
The Alliance for the Union of Romanians has responded following the announcement of Bolojan's summons, arguing that the timing of the hearing is not coincidental and is linked to discussions about organising snap elections.
"Even though we are political competitors of Ilie Bolojan and have criticised his governance harshly, we cannot fail to observe this coincidence. Justice should not be used to settle political scores," the organisation led by George Simion stated.
AUR accuses President Nicușor Dan of seeking to block snap elections by exercising pressure on certain politicians, arguing that criminal cases should not be used to compel a political leader to abandon a particular position.
