A 34-year-old man from Vulcan commune, Brașov County, was detained and placed in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Centre of the Brașov County Police Inspectorate, after allegedly selling two motor vehicles left in his care for repairs. According to ziare.com, the vehicles subsequently ended up being dismantled in Dâmbovița County.
The alleged acts occurred in January–February, when the man was performing vehicle repair activities in Bod locality. Investigators claim that he took advantage of the fact that he held the ignition keys to the vehicles left by their owners and sold them to individuals from Dâmbovița County, who allegedly dismantled them.
"It emerged that the man allegedly took advantage of the fact that he held the ignition keys to the motor vehicles left by their owners for the correction of defects and sold two of them to individuals from Dâmbovița County, who allegedly dismantled them, thereby causing damage of approximately 5,000 euros," the Brașov County Police Inspectorate stated on Thursday, 4 June.
On 3 June, police officers executed two home search warrants in Brașov and Dâmbovița counties. As a result, documents, written materials and storage media were seized, as well as sums of 5,660 euros and 10,420 lei, for the purposes of completing the evidence.
Three individuals were brought to the Brașov County Police Inspectorate headquarters for questioning. The measure of detention for 24 hours was ordered against the 34-year-old man, pending the court's decision on further measures.
