A 17-year-old has been remanded in custody for 30 days on Wednesday following a serious road accident that he caused on Tuesday morning on Gherghiței Street in Bucharest, Sector 2. According to Google News RO — Crime (ro), the minor was driving a Porsche without holding a driving licence for any category of vehicle and struck five cars, injuring four people.
Tests conducted at the scene indicated a concentration of 0.23 mg/l pure alcohol in exhaled air and a positive result for cocaine. The four victims — identified in the statement from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Sector 2 Bucharest with the initials N.G., U.V., P.M. and C.D.-I. — were taken to hospital for specialist medical care.
The accident occurred on Tuesday at around 06:50. The minor, identified with the initials N.A.D., was initially detained for 24 hours by police. The remand in custody decision was issued the following day by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Sector 2 Bucharest.
According to the prosecutor's statement, "on 25.08.2026, at around 06:50, the defendant N.A.D. drove a Porsche vehicle on Gherghiței Street in the municipality of Bucharest, Sector 2, without holding a driving licence for any category of vehicle, being involved in a road accident resulting in bodily injury to 4 people".
The drivers of the other five vehicles involved in the accident were also tested with a breathalyser, with the results registered as zero in all cases, according to the Bucharest Police.
The prosecutors clarified that the bringing of criminal proceedings represents a procedural stage governed by the Code of Criminal Procedure and that this "cannot in any way breach the principle of the presumption of innocence".
