17-year-old arrested after hitting five cars in Bucharest under the influence of cocaine and alcohol

Google News RO — Crime (ro) reports that a 17-year-old youth has been placed in preventive arrest for 30 days after driving a Porsche without a driving licence on Gherghiță Street in sector 2 of the capital on Tuesday morning and colliding with five vehicles.
The accident occurred at 06:50 on 25 August 2026. Four people — identified in the Prosecutor's Office documents as N.G., U.V., P.M. and C.D.-I. — were injured and transported to hospital for medical treatment.
Tests carried out at the scene indicated that the minor, N.A.D., had consumed both alcohol and drugs: a breathalyser test registered a value of 0.23 mg/l pure alcohol in expired air, whilst a drug test returned a positive result for cocaine. The drivers of the other five vehicles involved were also tested with a breathalyser, with all results indicating zero.
Initially, police retained the minor for 24 hours. The decision to place him in preventive arrest for 30 days was pronounced on Wednesday by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Sector 2, Bucharest.
Prosecutors emphasised that "the initiation of criminal proceedings is a stage of the criminal process regulated by the Code of Criminal Procedure, aimed at creating the procedural framework for the administration of evidence, an activity which in no way can infringe the principle of the presumption of innocence".
