Prosecutors in Bucharest have referred a public notary to court accused of depriving the state of more than 7 million lei. Investigators have placed a freeze on his assets and accounts for the recovery of damages.

A public notary who conducted his activities in the Capital has been sent to trial by prosecutors from the Bucharest Court of Appeal's Office, being accused of withholding and non-payment of obligations to the public budget. The damage exceeds 7 million lei.
According to the prosecution case file, during the period July 2022 – June 2025, the defendant allegedly received sums from real estate transfers without declaring them and transferring them to the tax authorities. The amount not declared from this source amounts to more than 7 million lei. Additionally, the legal professional allegedly withheld social and health contributions from employees of the notarial company without transferring them to the competent institutions, the additional damage being nearly 420,000 lei.
Investigators identified 46 transactions that fall under the scope of the continuing offence. To ensure the recovery of funds, precautionary measures were taken on the entire assets of the defendant, including property brought as a contribution within the notarial profession, as well as existing and future bank balances. The total value frozen amounts to more than 8.5 million lei, a sum that covers both the principal debts and the related penalties.
The notary will be tried while at liberty.
