Three vehicles purchased with counterfeit euros: five suspects detained after eight searches

Officers from the Organised Crime Fighting Brigade (BCCO) Bacău carried out eight house searches on Monday in Bucharest municipality and in Vrancea, Neamț, Galați and Iași counties, targeting individuals suspected of acquiring vehicles with counterfeit euro banknotes. The information was communicated by the Bacău County Police Inspectorate (IPJ), according to G4Media.

According to IPJ Bacău, the five suspects allegedly put into circulation 13,100 euros — specifically, 262 counterfeit 50-euro notes — through the purchase of three vehicles. Following the searches, several items and documents relevant to the criminal case were seized.

All five were brought in for questioning at the BCCO Bacău headquarters, after which they were presented to the Onești Court. The court ordered house arrest for 30 days against two of the suspects and the measure of judicial control against the other three.

The operation was coordinated by prosecutors from the Office of the Onești Court and benefited from the support of police structures in Bacău, Galați, Iași and Neamț, as well as gendarmes from Vrancea and Bacău.

Investigations continue in a criminal case opened for currency counterfeiting, putting falsified values into circulation, fraud and concealment.
