Over 1,000 human trafficking suspects arrested in 59 countries in international operation
In a five-day operation coordinated by authorities from Romania and Austria, police from 59 countries arrested over 1,000 people suspected of human trafficking. Over 2,000 victims were identified, with 10 per cent being minors.

Authorities from 59 countries detained over one thousand individuals in a wide-ranging operation against human trafficking networks. The action, carried out over five days across five continents, was coordinated by institutions from Romania and Austria, with support from Interpol, Europol, Ameripol and the Frontex agency.
According to Interpol data, over two thousand victims were identified. Most of these are citizens of Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, the Republic of Moldova and Nepal. Approximately 10 per cent of the victims were minors. The perpetrators deliberately recruited people from vulnerable groups, using deception or coercion to transport them to other countries and continents.
In Brazil, authorities dismantled a transnational network that was sending people to Cambodia, where they were forced to work in centres specialising in internet fraud. In Belgium, 17 people were detained on suspicion of recruiting minors online and forcing them to engage in prostitution in Belgium and France.
Interpol highlighted that human trafficking remains one of the most profitable and widespread forms of organised crime globally. The organisation stated that the international response must be equally global, coordinated and without compromise.
