A 55-year-old official who heads the local administration of Răsuceni commune in Giurgiu County has been held for one day by investigators. The measure was ordered on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, after anti-corruption police conducted raids at targeted addresses in a criminal case.

According to an official statement issued by the Giurgiu County Police Directorate, the investigation concerns acts of embezzlement and abuse of power. At the centre of attention is an agreement concluded between 2019-2022 for the development of a sports facility, namely the arrangement of a multi-purpose ground. Law enforcement officials suspect that the contract was awarded in breach of legal norms, and upon completion it would have been accepted that certain works were finished when, in reality, they had not been fully executed.

Another irregularity discovered by financial investigators concerns the procurement of large volumes of fuel. These purchases would not have been accompanied by documents justifying the removal of the fuel from records.

The man held is to be presented to magistrates, who will determine what preventive measures are necessary. Sources close to the investigation have confirmed that the person concerned is the head of the administration in Răsuceni.
