Drug trafficking network in Arad: 10-year-old child used in sales, seven arrested
A family in Arad, including a 10-year-old minor, was part of a drug trafficking network. Ten people are under investigation, with seven placed in preventive custody.

A man, a woman and a 10-year-old minor, members of the same family, were part of a drug trafficking network in Arad county, according to News.ro. The three are accused of, alongside other suspects, selling cannabis and crystalline substances with psychoactive effects.
In total, ten people are under criminal investigation in this case. On Wednesday, the judge of rights and liberties of Arad Tribunal ordered the preventive arrest of seven of them and house arrest for one woman for 30 days.
According to a press statement from Arad Police Inspectorate issued on Wednesday, "during the course of 2026, the individuals would have procured, possessed, manipulated, intermediated and sold cannabis directly and crystalline substances (3CMC, 4CMC and α-Ethylaminopentiophenone), with sums between 100 and 1,400 lei per transaction." The statement specifies that two of the suspects — a man and a woman from the same family — "would have marketed cannabis, including through a 10-year-old minor."
The ten people are under investigation for drug trafficking of high risk, drug trafficking of very high risk and carrying out operations with substances liable to produce psychoactive effects, without authorisation. Two of them are also facing charges for possession of high-risk drugs intended for personal consumption.
During Tuesday, police conducted 14 home searches, as a result of which quantities of vegetable and crystalline substances were discovered and seized — cannabis and α-Ethylaminopentiophenone — along with grinders, precision scales, objects bearing traces of substance and sums of money in lei. Investigators identified high-risk drugs, very high-risk drugs and psychoactive products transacted by the targeted individuals during the course of the criminal investigation.
Prosecutors from DIICOT Arad ordered the detention of all ten suspects, and the tribunal subsequently validated the preventive arrest of seven of them.
