Seven people have been arrested on remand for international drug trafficking, reports Google News RO — Crime (ro), citing sources within the investigation. The group was transporting hundreds of kilograms of controlled and high-risk drugs from Spain to several European states, using lorries equipped with hidden compartments.
Searches were carried out in Timișoara, Satu Mare, Oradea and Câmpulung Moldovenesc, as well as in Maramureș and Mehedinți counties. The operation targeted multiple locations simultaneously, indicating a large-scale operation coordinated by the authorities.
Investigators have instituted precautionary seizure of moveable and immoveable assets valued at approximately 400,000 euros, as well as 27 bank accounts.
The group had been active since at least 2023 and its main purpose was to generate profits from obtaining and transporting large quantities of prohibited substances. The lorries used were equipped with specially arranged compartments designed to conceal illicit cargo during border controls.
