An operation carried out at the end of June led to the dismantling of a group specialising in cannabis dealing in Prahova County. Seven individuals aged between 17 and 25 have come to the attention of law enforcement and are now being investigated in two separate cases.

Five of them have been subjected to the measure of deprivation of liberty in their own homes for one month, whilst the other two have been placed under judicial supervision. The decision was made by magistrates at Prahova Tribunal after prosecutors from DIICOT – Ploiești Territorial Service requested the detention of all suspects on 1 July.

The first criminal case concerns four individuals who, according to investigators, are alleged to have brought, stored and resold cannabis in the county capital municipality throughout 2026. Clients paid varying sums, from 250 to 650 lei for a single delivery. One of the dealers was driven to meetings by associates.

The second case concerns a 20-year-old boy, suspected of distributing the same substance in Boldești-Scăeni between May 2025 and June 2026. The price demanded here was lower: 50-60 lei per gram. He is alleged to have been assisted by two companions who drove him in their own vehicles to delivery points.

On 30 June, law enforcement officers raided seven residential addresses. Approximately 190 grammes of dried plant material was found and seized, grinding devices, precision weighing instruments and various objects contaminated with product residue. The investigation was conducted by the Organised Crime Combat Brigade in Ploiești, with assistance from officers from the "Matei Basarab" Mobile Group.

Details of the case were presented by Prahovainfo and taken up by Newsweek România.

All those involved enjoy the presumption of innocence until a court issues a final decision.
