A 20-year-old man has been placed in preventive custody by DIICOT prosecutors, accused of human trafficking of minors. He allegedly coerced a 17-year-old girl to practise prostitution, both in Romania and abroad.

A 20-year-old man has been incarcerated in preventive custody, under investigation for human trafficking of minors. The individual recruited a 17-year-old teenager from a disadvantaged family background, winning her confidence through promises of a life together.
According to DIICOT investigators, in reality, the young man subjected the victim to sexual exploitation over a period of four years. The girl was forced to prostitute herself in various areas of Romania, as well as abroad. Throughout this entire period, the teenager was kept under constant surveillance, subjected to both physical violence and psychological abuse.
Authorities detained the suspect, who is now in police custody, under preventive arrest measures.
