Moldovan man on the run sought in Mehedinți after abandoning stolen vehicle from Bulgaria

A 26-year-old man from the Republic of Moldova ignored police signals to stop from officers in Strehaia and abandoned the vehicle at the edge of a forest. The car is registered as stolen from Bulgaria.

Helicopter search in Mehedinți after Moldovan citizen abandons vehicle registered in Bulgaria

A citizen of the Republic of Moldova, aged 26, is being sought by police in Mehedinți County, according to G4Media. The man refused to stop at signals from traffic officers and abandoned the vehicle he was driving near a forest.

The incident occurred on 5 September at around 15:30, when officers from Strehaia City Police carried out a standard stop signal on a vehicle with Bulgarian registration plates. The driver did not comply and continued driving, subsequently abandoning the vehicle at the edge of a wooded area.

Checks carried out to date have indicated that the vehicle appears to have been stolen from Bulgarian territory.

To locate the fugitive, Mehedinți County Police Inspectorate is conducting search operations with the support of police officers from Dolj, Gorj and Caraș-Severin counties, the Mehedinți Territorial Service of the Border Police and Mehedinți gendarmes. A helicopter from the General Aviation Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is also participating in the operation.

At present, operations are ongoing, with police conducting checks to establish the facts and identify the person in question. Depending on the results obtained, appropriate legal measures will be taken.
