A police officer was deliberately struck with a vehicle while carrying out checks on a timber transport in Suceava County. Magistrates in Bucharest issued 30-day arrest warrants for the two assailants.

A police officer with the rank of chief superintendent was deliberately struck during an inspection of a timber transport on 23 July 2025, at approximately 5:10 a.m., on DJ 177A, in the locality of Broșteni, Suceava County, according to G4Media.ro.
The officer was in a service vehicle parked in accordance with regulations outside the road, when a motor vehicle was deliberately directed at the police vehicle. The driver acted at the urging of an accomplice. The officer sustained injuries as a result of the collision.
The two suspects sought to prevent the documentation of a possible forestry illegality. Investigators established that an illegal timber transport, exceeding five cubic metres and lacking certificates of origin, had been carried out previously by a third party.
Prosecutors from the Criminal Investigation Division of the High Court Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained the measure of remand detention for one month from Bucharest Tribunal. The two are accused of assault, in the form of qualified attempted murder of a public official in the exercise of his duties.
