Drug trafficking in Arad: another suspect detained in case involving dozens of suspects
The DIICOT Arad office has detained a new person in a major drug trafficking case involving dozens of people from the county. The judge has been asked to consider a proposal for 30 days of preventive arrest.
Eighteenth suspect detained in DIICOT investigation into drug trafficking in Arad
Prosecutors from DIICOT Arad ordered, on 6 October 2026, the detention of a new defendant in a major drug trafficking case involving dozens of people from Arad county, according to goldring.ro. According to investigators, the man allegedly acted together with three other accomplices — including two members of his own family — by procuring, possessing, storing and selling crystalline substances of the type 3 CMC, 4 CMC and 4 MMC during the period May–September 2026.
The judge for rights and liberties at Arad Tribunal was asked on the same day with a proposal for the defendant's preventive arrest for 30 days.
The new detention follows a major operation carried out in mid-September, when authorities executed 33 house search warrants in the county. During the initial actions, 17 people had already been detained, including two minors, for offences including major drug trafficking, carrying out operations with psychoactive substances without authorisation and placing a residence at the disposal for illicit consumption.
The investigation established that, between March and September 2026, a group of over 15 people allegedly conducted transactions involving substances such as 4 CMC, 4 MMC and α-ethylaminopentiophenone. A resident of Arad municipality allegedly placed his house at the disposal for themed parties where narcotics were allegedly consumed.
